Best Desserts in Sydney: KOI Dessert Bar

There’s always room for dessert. Always.

But what happens when you have an entire set menu dedicated solely to the separate stomach that is always reserved for the best part of a meal? Boy, oh boy.

Read on to discover one of the best dessert experiences in Sydney!

Anyone who knows me knows that the dessert section is always the first thing that I look at when scanning a menu. If I have my heart (and stomach) dedicated to particular sweet dish on offer, I will most definitely organise my entire meal around it. Sacrifices will be made for the right dessert. Fellow dessert addicts, please raise your hands!

KOI Dessert Bar and Dining in Chippendale is the flagship store built by Reynold Poernomo (of Masterchef fame!) and his brothers, Ronald and Arnold, to showcase beautiful culinary masterpieces. No joke, the menu at KOI features edible works of art, as you can see for yourself below. As well as takeaway and casual dining, they also offer a set menu experience in the seated area upstairs, with a lovely leafy view over Kensington Street.

Before I go any further, I’m going to preface this by saying that KOI just announced today that they will be closing their flagship store. However, they will be setting up a temporary base at Darling Square, and also have a dining experience at their Ryde location.

I absolutely loved my experience, and even with the announcement of the closing of the OG Chippendale store, I wanted to showcase some of the best desserts in Sydney, and the beautiful dishes that came with my Autumn set menu when I visited this past weekend. Don’t forget, the set menu is still available at the Ryde café!

The Autumn set menu features four dessert courses as well as an amazing first savoury course to begin your descent into sweet, sweet dessert heaven. There is a pairing menu available, as well as the option to include the legendary Snitch dessert to finish off your gourmet dessert experience.

It really is just an amazing visually stunning, sensory dining experience that hits all the right notes for those gorgeous autumnal flavours. Whilst the Snitch gets 100 points for sheer spectacular, absolutely gorgeous presentation, my favourites of the night were Jetlag and Harvest. Jetlag was so refreshing and Harvest was everything autumnal in a mouthful. Extra points for the bed of pear yuzu sorbet that the Snitch was resting on. I can eat tubs of that. Tubs.

I’m excited to see what the next evolution of KOI will bring.
