Michelin tyres, Michelin star – same, same no?

Believe it or not, the Michelin star system that we know today actually originated from the one and only Michelin Tyre Company.

The guide was developed to help boost sales for the tyre company in the 1920s. From a regular and free travel guide to the premium rating system we have today, the name ‘Michelin’ is now forever linked to fine dining and luxury travel.

Michelin stars are awarded to restaurants of the highest calibre, on a scale from one to three stars. The idea of an experience being worth the journey is the main driving force behind the guide.

The film, The Hundred Foot Journey is one example of the Michelin star system in action, wrapped up in a very wholesome story. Would recommend!

Back to the food! The Michelin dining scene in the UK is fantastic. Many well-renowned chefs that you see on the telly (Masterchef fan, anyone?) have their restaurants dotted around London and the UK.

If you’re ready to go on a culinary adventure on your next special night out…
