Beautiful London Bookshops: Daunt Books

As a self-confessed bibliophile, one of my ultimate dreams in life is to own a library that would rival Belle’s in Beauty and the Beast. I’m talking floor to ceiling bookshelves, ladders, sunlight spilling through wide windows that are adorned with plush curtains, and complete with a cosy armchair to curl up in. Until that moment, I shall console myself by walking around as many grand libraries as I am able, and to visit as many bookshops as I possibly can.

When I needed familiarity and comfort after landing on the other side of the world, I headed straight to Daunt Books in Marylebone. Daunt Books is a chain of independent booksellers, and the gorgeous aesthetics of their shops has captured the romantic interest of many book lovers around the world. They have shops around London; from Hampstead to Holland Park, to their most well-known site in Marylebone on the High Street.

Within their gorgeous interiors, they sell a range of fiction and non-fiction titles and bookish accessories. The money shot is with the stunning white arched window frame against the teal feature wall…framed with the long shelves of books running on either side.

One of the most impressive parts of the store is the absolutely stacked Travel section on the lower level of the store. The travel collection in the Marylebone store is so impressive, and there are even little nooks with chairs and tables to comfortable sit down and peruse through what will most assuredly be your next purchase. You can travel the world within the four walls of this Marylebone institution and add discover amazing finds to add to your travel bucket list.

Climb one of the corner staircases and head up to the upper level of the building. Take some time to soak in the atmosphere and the view. As you peruse the shelves behind the dark, wooden balcony, it’s pretty easy to imagine yourself in Belle’s shoes before heading out into the bustle of high street to continue your day.
